Local Strawberry Picking

Although the weather may have cooled off a bit this week a few farms in the area with strawberries were open to pick your own.

I absolutely love taking my kiddos to do this even though it ends up being more work then had I just gone alone or bought them from the store. Can any momma’s out there relate?! Seeing their little faces covered in strawberry juice is the best 🙂 I have noticed over the last few years that it becomes less an less. Just another sign of then growing up which breaks my heart. I was proud of my big little guy this year. Last year he wanted so badly to help and every strawberry he picked was soft and squishy from pulling the berry. This year I found only a few like that. He was also so proud of the number of berries he picked and that he was strong enough to carry the big bucket.

Buckwheat Farm

Wednesday we headed to Buckwheat Farms in Apex. It’s a bit of a drive for us but its pretty out there. They have horses and homemade ice cream which my kiddos love. Blueberries and mushrooms can be found there as well as a variety of jams and jellies. They also have local honey for any allergy sufferers or honey lovers out there. We didn’t do it this time but they have cute little bee cut outs that your kids can stick their heads in as well. What parent doesn’t want a photo op like that?

This leads me to my excitement this morning! As an Apex Family Photographer with my own two little boys, my camera goes everywhere with me. Especially fun adventures like this. The rows of strawberry fields create leading lines for days, a great element for a strong composition. I got some great shots this day and one of them was even featured! Megan Boggs of Wild Honey Photography started a challenge this year called p52 clicks.
