Frequently Asked Questions

You’ve booked your session…now what?!  Here is what you can expect during a session with me, and hopefully I’ll answer some burning questions along the way 😉

Do you require a deposit of any kind in order for me to reserve my session with you? -Yes.  I require a non-refundable session fee in order to reserve your session.  This session fee is due upon booking.  If the session fee is not received within 24 hours, you date will be removed from my calendar. This fee does NOT include digital images or print products.

My Style – I am a natural light and portrait and life style photographer. I have poses that make for and encourage authentic family moments, giggles, kisses, hugs, and smiles!  I will take plenty of posed photos but I will also grab candids. They are usually everyone’s favorite! If there is anything specific you want photographed during our session together, please feel free to let me know!

What time will our session be? – We can book a session anytime of day although the best time will be during the golden hour.  What’s the golden hour you ask?  It’s the hour before sunset that renders the most beautiful golden light you’ve ever seen. Yes, I know that during the summer months the golden hour is late…but it’s worth it!

What if my child is fussy or uncooperative?! – It’s very likely that a golden hour family shoot during the spring or summer months may be very close to bed time for your littlest ones!  I recommend keeping activities to a minimum on the day of our shoot.  Late naps are recommended if possible in order to ensure that children can make it through the session!  Please bring anything that makes your child comfortable whether it be snacks, juices, or lovies! Please do not worry if your child is fussy.  I’m a child and family photographer and have experienced the many moods of children, babies, and toddlers.  I will try my best to keep the session moving. And PLEASE don’t stress out about it. They can sense that. If they see you are calm they are more likely to remain the same.

No “cheese” please! – I love cheese as much as the next person, but please no saying “cheese!” during our sessions.  Most of the time this provides for silly grins, let’s try to get some authentic smiles during our shoot!  As a side note, some of the most beautiful photographs of children, the child isn’t smiling at all, and boy do their eyes pop!

Do you bring props? – Sometimes but not usually. I am a minimalist when it comes to photography. I may bring a blanket but that is about it.

My space is your space – Just a disclaimer, I will be in your personal space during our session 😉 We’ll know each other very well by the time we’re finished!

Where will our session take place? – I have a few locations up my sleeve at all times 🙂  If you are wanting a specific location feel free to suggest, I am always opening to discovering new places to shoot!  Please keep in mind that there is a small travel fee anywhere more than 20 miles from my home.

How and when will I receive my photos? – Your photos will be delivered to you via an online gallery in the form of a slideshow. Once you choose a collection you will be able to download your favorite high resolution digital images and use your print credit to choose from the awesome products in the online store.  You will also receive my client print release form which will allow for you to print your photos wherever and however many times you want.

Do you require your clients to order prints? – Nope! You can even use your print credit towards additional digital files.  I do however offer prints and products such as heritage wood prints, luxury albums and metal prints. Professional printing makes a huge difference in the quality and life of your images.

What do we wear?! – Dress to impress! Please don’t wear black as this casts unwanted shadows 🙂  Just say no to t-shirts that have graphics, lettering, logos, or characters.  Children (and adults too) are more than welcome to be barefoot.  Make sure you choose clothing that represents your family and your style!  Pinterest is a great resource and feel free to send me pictures. I’m happy to help!

How do I contact you? – You can contact me via e-mail at smile@jenniferlagrangephotography.com or by using the contact page on this website.  Please do not contact me via Facebook or Facebook messenger regarding your upcoming or a potential shoot.

Lastly, This is FUN.  Please relax and enjoy yourselves.  Let’s capture some great images and have an AMAZING session together!
