Keep it Fun!

As an Apex family photographer one of my biggest goals is to make sure my families have a great experience. This doesn’t just mean that you end up with great images (although you will!) but I want EVERYONE to enjoy our time together, kids and DADS included. I strive to make sure everyone is comfortable, happy and having fun. We will keep moving and keep the kids entertained by playing games and giving them “jobs” to do. This might include ring a round the rosie, sneaking up on mom and dad or helping my make sure mom and dad don’t run away. I also highly encourage bringing waters and clean snacks. After having two boys of my own I have learned to NEVER leave the house without food!

Family Session at a Vineyard

Exploring new places is always a good time and I was so excited when this family got permission from a local vineyard to let us hold their family session on their property! Anytime you can go somewhere around here that isn’t crawling with photographers is a huge plus. It was such a cozy place with a red barn and green tin roof, rows of grape vines and even a playground for the kids to play on. This location definitely would be a great place to hang out with family and friends and have a glass of wine.Anyone I have talked to that has been there absolutely loves the environment.

It was a cold day but we made sure to run around or get nice and cozy. This little guy was full of personality and his little sister was just as sweet as could be. As I suggested above, there was definitely a lot of snacking to keep everyone happy and that was absolutely okay! We took a break to play but that is all part of the experience. My sessions usually last 60-90 minutes so we have plenty of time to do all the things. I also make sure to leave time to get mom and dad alone. A lot of times when I ask if they would like a picture of just them they tell me they haven’t had pictures done since their wedding day! Kids will love looking back at pictures of themselves but they will love seeing how mom and dad have changed over the years, too. I’m in love with the way this family’s images turned out. Beautiful light and a story to be told.
